Jefferey K. Barton was elected the Indian River County Clerk of Courts in November of 1988. A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Barton moved to Florida in 1961 and earned his Bachelor of science degree from Florida State University in real estate, insurance and finance and finished getting his M.B.A. Degree from the University of Florida. He entered the Indian River County Clerk of Courts in 1978 as the finance director. As the Indian River county clerk of courts, Mr. Barton is in charge of overseeing all court rooms and every aspect of the judicial proceedings in Indian River County. The following divisions of courts in Indian River County are as follows, The Criminal division and the Civil division, along with the Recording division, and Traffic division. Mr. Barton is also in charge of overseeing the Juvenile division of courts and the Probate division of courts along with the Mental health divisions. The Indian River County Clerk of Courts is also responsible to keep and update access to all public court records. Mr. Barton, as Indian River county clerk of courts, is also in charge of overseeing the marriage licenses division and the pass port division, along with all land records and all records of the retention center. All fees, court schedules, fines, and payment schedules, along with keeping up with paying fines on line or in person, and fee schedules are all the responsibility of the Indian River County Clerk of Courts. He is also in charge of all Court activities including evidence keeping, book keeping, court dockets and court scheduling for every divisions of the Indian River County Courts. Until 5 PM. The north office issues marriage licenses and performs wedding ceremonies. They accept money for traffic tickets and child support cases. They also process passport applications.
